Soprano Ellie Yeonjung Kim has earned critical acclaim from Opera News Online for her portrayal of Rita in Donizetti's Rita, presented by the Martina Arroyo Foundation. Based in Washington, DC, Ellie is a regular performer at the Washington National Cathedral, and she frequently lends her vocal talents to the Washington Master Chorale, Choral Arts, Bach in Baltimore, and Baltimore Musicale.In addition to her vocal performances, Ellie is a dedicated voice instructor. She serves on the voice faculty at both the Peabody Preparatory Institute and the Levine School of Music, where she shares her expertise with aspiring singers. Ellie also maintains a private studio in Clarksville, Maryland.As a soloist, Ellie has captivated audiences with her performances of works such as Bach’s compositions with Bach in Baltimore, Britten's A Ceremony of Carols with the Washington Bach Consort, Mozart’s Requiem, John Rutter’s Gloria, and Handel’s Messiah throughout the DC metropolitan area. Ellie's operatic journey began with her debut as Lucy in Gian Carlo Menotti's The Telephone at the National Theater of Korea. Other notable operatic roles include Pamina in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Rita in Donizetti's Rita, Barbarina in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Sophie in Massenet's Werther, and Liu in Puccini's Turandot. Ellie holds a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York and a Bachelor of Music from her home country of Korea. With a blend of formal training and a deep passion for both performance and teaching, Ellie continues to inspire audiences and students alike on stages and in the classroom.
